On July, 1647 Masaniello was assassinated in a conspiracy and his head was carried in triumph with the streets of Naples. Masaniello was the son of Lorenzo d’Amalfi and Antonia Gargano of Atrani, when he was a child he played while in the streets of Casa Gargano near the church of Saint Maria Of Bando which belonged to his maternal grandparents.
